To Heligan in a handcart

Not really - actually just 'to Heligan'. Celebrating a rather too big birthday, and spent a weekend visiting Heligan and the Eden Project, with a visit to Hestercombe on the way down for good measure.

I loved Heligan - it's somehow very romantic, and I'd give my right arm to work there (which would probably render me no use to them, so something of a catch 22). And Hestercombe is stunning. I remember going there years ago in the summer when all the Mexican daisies were flowering in cracks in the paving. It was pouring with rain, but still a very memorable day. Now you can go into the house, too - they're currently using it to display some contemporary art that responds to the house and garden. I loved it, and was really pleased to see something contemporary.

Somehow the Eden Project just didn't float my boat - maybe just a bit too worthy and educational for me.
